  • Artist Statements.

Visual artists are required to submit an artist statement with their piece. An artist statement is optional for writers. The artist statement should be a short paragraph explaining why the piece(s) was created in relation to the theme. Please refrain from submitting an artist’s bio or mission statement here.

  • Additional Guidelines.

Thin Space accepts only original submissions of written and visual work and must not infringe on the copyrights, trademarks, moral rights, rights of privacy/publicity, or intellectual property rights of any person or entry. No other party can have any right, title, claim, or interest in the submitted piece(s).

Submissions must not, in the sole and unfettered discretion of the Sponsor, contain obscene, provocative, defamatory, sexually explicit, or otherwise objectionable or inappropriate content. If the entrant is unsure whether their work(s) contains such content, they may contact mmlliterary@moody.edu to arrange a time to discuss their piece with the Sponsor.

Politically divisive written submissions will be disqualified.

We welcome submissions written in other languages. However, each work must have a clear English translation by the author.

If the submission includes the work of more than one artist or writer, please list those names and the types of pieces they worked on.
